The water of life comes in so many flavors. Whether you prefer your whisky born on the rocky shores of Islay, or in the heathery streams of the Highlands, there is a Scotch for everyone. Come join us to experience the vast palette of Scottish whisky and find your favourite.

The mission of the Alberta Scotch Society is to promote the responsible enjoyment of Scottish Whisky. We do this through scotch tastings, dinners, social events, after work, relaxing, and just about anywhere that is appropriate to enjoy a fine whisky.

There are no other truly Albertan communities for those of us who enjoy our whisky. From novices to aficionados, the Society is about bringing people together over a wee dram to share stories and enjoy life.

A Tale of Two Whiskies

The first of our Tale of Two Whiskies tasting series for 2015 is coming up. We have another great lineup of rare whiskies to try. The AnCnoc is exclusive to Vines and Kensington in Alberta. A fresh highland spirit and a great bargain. The Ichiro's Malt Chichibu produces some of Japan's most coveted whiskies. The Peated is no exception. A three year old, heavily peated whisky, the Peated easily competes with some of Islay's best.

  • AnCnoc Peter Arkyl Series 4
  • Ichiro's Malt Chichibu - The Peated

St. Patrick's Spirit

St. Patrick may not have driven snakes out of Ireland or preached with a shamrock. What we do know is that he was a Scotsman who travelled Ireland spreading the good word and beer recipes. Maybe he is the progenator of the whiskey industry we know today. That's a good enough reason for us, so we're celebrating with an Irish Whiskey Dinner.

The Alberta Whisky Society along with Sherbrooke Liquor Store and KITCHEN by Brad Smoliak present St. Patrick's Spirit. We'll have great food, great spirits, and yarn a little on the dram that was once the worlds most popular spirit, and is currently the fastest growing spirit in the world.

We will be pouring the following (subject to change):

  • Knappogue Castle
  • Connemara
  • Red Breast
  • The Green Spot
  • Guest of Honor TBC

When: March 17th, 2015 @ 6:30 pm

Where: KITCHEN by Brad Smoliak #101, 10130 - 105 Streeet

Cost: $100 Members, $125 Non-Members
